One of the best ways to appreciate the many different aspects of nature’s beauty is through nature photography. Talented amateur and professional photographers seek to bring their subject to life for the viewer with their nature photography. This article will focus on the style of two very different photographers, Ansel Adams and Frans Lanting.
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams had a productive and influential 60 year career in nature photography. Adams specialized in black and white photographs. His subjects included close ups, still lifes and, perhaps his most famous landscape subjects. Some of his famous nature photography includes:
• Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico: This black and white photo is of the moon rising over a village with snow covered mountains in the background.
• A series in U.S. National Parks: Adams was the first nature photographer to photograph in all of the U.S. National Parks. His works included photographs of Old Faithful Geyser, Grand Teton and Mount McKinley.
It is also important to note that Adams was a skilled writer. He used his writing and his considerable influence to further the cause of environmentalism.
Frans Lanting
Fran Lanting is another talented individual in the field of nature photography. He is considered one of the best nature photographers of our time. Much of his work focuses on wild life across the globe. He advocates for preservation of nature and protection of different species through his remarkable work.
His work is often presented in some of the world’s leading magazines such as National Geographic. Some of his contributions include:
• National Geographic April 2008: Lanting contributed a piece, complete with groundbreaking research, on chimpanzees in Senegal.
• National Geographic February 1999: This issue focused on Lanting’s year long project to capture earth’s biodiversity at the end of one millennium and the beginning of another.
One of Lanting’s greatest accomplishments as an expert in nature photography is the LIFE project. LIFE is a multimedia production about the history of life on Earth.
No two nature photographers have exactly the same style. Nor do they capture the same images. That is to the benefit of people who enjoy nature photography. This earth has so many different breathtaking landscapes and awe inspiring animals that it would be impossible to see them all in one lifetime. Nature photographers allow us to glimpse a piece of the earth or an animal that we would not otherwise see. Photographers such as Adams and Lanting allow us to marvel at the beauty of their art and learn about different places because of their remarkable skill in nature photography.

Environmental awareness begins with the mind. We are greatly influenced by the way we see the world around us. Our perceptions serve to build our vision of the environment. Using nature scenery as a source of inspiration is a wonderful approach to developing a new awareness of our surroundings.

Nature is inherently inspiring. Consider the grand landscapes and magnificent sunsets. Flowers, plants, animals and countless other living things offer beauty and elegance in each corner of the world.

The focus of this article is how to become inspired through nature scenery. Following are some great ideas to give you a new perspective:

Nature Scenery as Art

Anyone who has ever seen to landscape paintings knows that the natural word is a wonderful source of inspiration. These images capture fleeting moments in an artistic venue.

Look to the sky. No two sunsets are exactly alike. The clouds will never form the same exact pattern in the air. The stars move throughout the year and the shadows of the moon play tricks on the eye.

The sky is a canvas for the mind. It represents nature scenery at its most glorious and at its most mysterious. The heavens seem designed to evoke imagination and thought.

Consider the wonders of water. Nature scenery that includes bodies of water offers movement and life. Water is a life-sustaining source for many creatures. It can also hydrate the imagination.

This natural element is mesmerizing in a couple ways. The sight of water can be overwhelming considering the vast oceans. Breathtaking waterfalls and even the smallest stream give rise to inspiration.

Various landscapes in scenes of nature offer texture, color and interest. There are countless plants, minerals, rocks and flowers peppered throughout many scenes. Some landscape nature scenery is quite serene and simple.

Using the Inspiration

How do we effectively use the inspiration we get from nature scenery? There are plenty of options to consider.

• Nature scenery inspires great artwork. Simply looking at paintings, drawings and other works of art inspired by nature heightens awareness of our environment.
• Color is all-important in natural settings and you can bring these colors into your life. Try wearing earthy tones. Incorporate deep blues reminiscent of the ocean in your style. There are countless options.
• Use natural elements in your interior design. This brings the environment to your indoor setting.
• Write. Scenes from nature can inspire stories and poems. Imagine what happens in the natural setting. Create images of the place in words.

Issues concerning the environment do not need to be sources of stress. Some issues can help us become aware of our surroundings. Nature scenery is a perfect example.

The sounds of nature are not merely a byproduct of the living things around us. They can serve many different purposes. As we begin to see how noises in the natural world function, we begin to realize how fascinating the earth really is.

Following are different ways that the sounds of nature function:

Communication

Animals of all sorts use noises to communicate. They seem to have their own languages. The sounds of nature include a biological dialogue between animals.

Communication comes in an array of forms. An animal, bird or even fish may use sounds to convey messages to another. Each of these noises has a specific meaning, though humans may not know what they mean.

Preservation

The sounds of nature can serve as warnings between creatures. These warnings include alerting fellow species of potential dangers. They can also serve to protect. Some creatures use their sounds to scare away some predators.

Self-preservation and the preservation of the species is an integral function of the sounds of nature. While this is a necessity for the survival of the species, these noises have a lot to offer humans.

Humans and Nature Sounds

People benefit from the things that they hear. Nature provides a plethora of magnificent sounds that are of great use. Following are some ways the noises found in natural settings can benefit people:

• The sounds of nature can be frightening for good reason. People can take warning from a roar of a lion. They can be taken back by the subtle growl of an angry dog. Some nature sounds help humans protect themselves by giving them fair warning.

• Outdoor noises serve to warn humans of dangerous weather. The rumbling of thunder alerts us to take shelter. Its loud crashes provide strong warning of lightning nearby.

• Nature sounds are wonderful auditory maps. The sound of a moving stream can help people guide themselves in the right direction.

• The sounds of nature are ideal for relaxation. Taking a little time to listen to a waterfall or the haunting whale’s cry can do wonders. These tranquil sounds are so appealing that many people listen to them in their home.

Noises can function in a number of ways. Sometimes they are simply vehicles for pure relaxation and enjoyment.

The world around us has so much to offer. There are many stunning sights to see and so much to hear. The next time you are outside, take a moment to stop and listen to the sounds of nature. This is a wonderful way to connect with the natural world around you.

Life is the nature of biology. The study of living organisms is an integral part of our understanding of the world around us. Biological studies address different aspects of the composition and function of living organisms.

Structure

Every tangible thing has structure. Understanding how something is constructed is an important aspect of the nature of biology. Those who work in this field have a particular interest in the things that make up a living organism.

Function

Every living thing has a function. Even the smallest, seemingly insignificant organism serves a purpose. Microscopic organisms like bacteria are crucial to the proper operations of the earth. Understanding how living things function is a very important aspect of the nature of biology.

Origin

The origin of a living thing is a very interesting topic that is integral in the very nature of biology. Biologists search for clues to try to determine where a species began. This fascinating aspect of biological study is very complex and it appeals to those who love history.

Evolution

As the evidence unfolds of an organism’s origin, biologists begin to find information about how it has evolved over time. Change is in the nature of biology. Living things transform over time.

Growth

Growth is a fascinating aspect of biological research. Living organisms change and evolve. They can do this over a single lifespan and they can change over a series of generations. Growth is an integral part of life and it is a very important aspect of the nature of biology.

Distribution

The world is filled with living things. These organisms range from microscopic specs to huge animals. Plants, birds and reptiles are part of the study of biology. The vast array of species is distributed in different areas of the earth.

Biology is complex in its very nature. This field of study is so vast that there are many subdivisions. Organizing all of the different forms of life is an arduous task that requires impeccable skill.

One-celled organisms are in the protistology division of scientific study. Botany is the study of plant life. Zoology is the study of animals. Each of these categories plays an important role in the nature of biology.

The way these divisions interact is a very important aspect of biological study. It is crucial that people understand how their actions affect the world around them. In order to assure that the life forms around us are functioning properly, we need to consider our actions.

Biology is synonymous with life. All Living Things are part of the nature of biology. These forms of life include the tallest tree and the smallest organism.

Life is so much easier when it is uncomplicated. Going back to nature is a great way to simplify your life. There are many options to consider and many different subjects that are affected by nature. Water conservation is of great concern.

Many of our natural resources are at risk and the environment is suffering because of our carelessness. We can do our part by going back to nature in certain aspects of our lives. Little changes can make a big difference.

This is not to suggest that you have to live in a hut and heat your meals over an open flame. You can make many environmentally friendly changes that hearken back to nature that are relatively small.

Take little steps by starting in your kitchen. Water conservation is of the utmost importance. You can do your part by washing your dishes all at once. Follow the washing with the rinse.

Instead of leaving the water running as you wash the dishes, turn it off. Wash each dish in one sink. Rinse them in cold water after they are all washed. A cold-water rinse saves energy and it prevents spotting.

Long, hot showers may be appealing but you can use a lot of water in the process. The idea of going back to nature when it comes to bathing is not appealing at all. However, you can save water and time without taking a cold shower.

Military showers typically consist of a systematic approach. Wet down with water. Shut off the flow while your lather up and wash your hair. Turn the water back on for a through rinse.

Save lengthy stays in the bathroom for a nice hot bath at the end of the week. This practice is an ideal treat after a long day. You will appreciate it more if you don’t do it everyday.

Brushing your teeth should not require much water at all. Why stand in front of a running faucet? Wet the toothbrush. Turn off the water. Apply the paste and brush. Turn the water back on while you rinse.

The same applies for washing your face. Just use the water that you actually need in the process. If it is running down the drain untouched, it isn’t going back to nature effectively.

Traditional toilets use an awful lot of water each time they flushing. Leaving urine in the commode is not an appealing solution to this problem. If you can’t invest in a new, efficient toilet you can still do your part to save water.

Fill a couple bottles with water and place them in the tank. This displaces the water and fills the space. Less water enters the tank. This means that less water is used for each flush.

These are just a few simple suggestions to consider. Once your mind goes back to nature, you will be able to see various ways to conserve water. You may also find ways to help the environment in other areas as well.

The beauty of nature includes the animals that live on this earth. However, every year the list of endangered animals seems to grow longer. Yet, the government has been able to protect some species from extinction and allow them to continue to contribute to our ecosystem.
Of course the laws of nature dictate that some species will become extinct for natural reasons. Arguably, the most famous example of this is the dinosaurs. While the cause of their extinction may be debated, it was clearly not the fault of human beings who did not yet exist.
Current Concerns
The following animals are currently in danger of becoming extinct due to actions by humans. The government has taken actions to try and prevent their extinction and to allow them to continue to contribute to the balance of nature. Some of these animals include:
• North Atlantic Right Whales: These marine mammals are put in danger by ships and fishing gear. They become injured by colliding with ships or becoming entangled in the fishing gear. Contaminants and climate changes may also be a threat. North Atlantic Right Whales have been protected by the government in some form since 1931. Today, specific guidelines in are in place to protect the animals.
• Atlantic Salmon: Atlantic Salmon are threatened by climate changes, pollution, poor water quality and loss of habitat. Regulations have been in place since 2000 to attempt to deal with the threat to Atlantic Salmon. Protection is a partnership between the state of Maine and the United States government.
• Snow Leopard: This animal, native to Central Asia, is currently on the endangered species list. It is threatened by loss of habitat and human hunting for its fur. Several international organizations are working toward the preservation of the Snow Leopard.
Past Successes
Sometimes, efforts to prevent extinction are realized and a species is thought to have repopulated enough to be secure in nature. Some of these species include:
• Bald Eagle: The Bald Eagle’s numbers increased from around 400 pairs to more than 11,000 pairs from 1963-2007 when it was removed from the endangered species list.
• Grizzly Bear: Like the Bald Eagle, the Grizzly Bear’s numbers increased dramatically and was able to be removed from the endangered species list in 2007.
While it goes without saying that human beings need to continue to develop their societies and further their economic and social goals, humans also need to be mindful of the other species living on this earth. We are not alone. The way animals and even plants are intertwined to form the balance of nature on this earth is complex and should be respected.
